Never surprised by a Metallica nod though. :smug: Edit: I do like the cover though. dragoon419 12-06-2007, 08:50 PM King Diamond!!! But, is it a Danish Grammy? Rune Bivrin 12-07-2007, 01:52 AM So is Rush, Bruce Springsteen, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Guess you've gotta be old to be grammy nominated, at least for instrumentals. :hiding: hbarcat 12-07-2007, 02:21 AM When Metallica was the best heavy metal band on Earth and true pioneers of the genre, they lost the Grammy for best heavy metal album to Jethro Tull, a band that had been around for decades and wasn't really metal nor particularly heavy. Now that Metallica has been around for decades and has apparently forgotten how to even play their instruments properly, they could win a Grammy. What other deserving band would have to be screwed out of it in order for Metallica to recieve the Grammy, now? Matt Till 12-08-2007, 09:25 AM The Grammys are a joke. It's been proven time and time again. Jazz Ad 12-08-2007, 09:44 AM They should rename to Queenallica. Or maybe Cheesallica, not sure. rap138 12-08-2007, 09:58 AM I can't believe this are the same guys that created albums such as "master of puppets" or "justice for all" I vote for turdallica BassSurfer 12-09-2007, 08:42 AM oh man i love the Ecstasy Of Gold just listen to it... it makes you think and everything.. its amazing... when i saw them in the 90's they opened this.. and i think they did at every show..now they do ACDC.. They should rename to Queenallica. Or maybe Cheesallica, not sure. and why is that?:scowl::scowl::scowl::scowl: epsilonbass 12-09-2007, 08:49 AM its like a really bad video game theme song.... seriously is this for a new mega man game or something? (not a fan of this) WayneS 12-09-2007, 08:54 AM Now that Metallica has been around for decades and has apparently forgotten how to even play their instruments properly, they could win a Grammy. What other deserving band would have to be screwed out of it in order for Metallica to recieve the Grammy, now? I would love to see any of your favorite bands lose a Grammy to Metallica. They've been around long enough, and made enough good music to prove themselves and they deserve to win. peaveyuser 12-09-2007, 08:57 AM They should rename to Queenallica. Or maybe Cheesallica, not sure. I can't believe this are the same guys that created albums such as "master of puppets" or "justice for all" I vote for turdallica Nope the best would be Sold-outica Honestly I'm a big Metallica fan but really for their old stuff, they're newer stuff is kind of meh. Although I did like some of Ectasy of Gold, even though the starting guitar sounded sterile and kind of clumsy Shadyskull24 12-09-2007, 09:06 AM I would love to see any of your favorite bands lose a Grammy to Metallica. They've been around long enough, and made enough good music to prove themselves and they deserve to win. +1,000,000 Why do people have to be nasty? So they sold out, does that make them unworthy of some lame award? I don't think much of the Grammy's but these guys deserve to win, especially since they got screwed out of their last one. Night Prowler 12-09-2007, 09:08 AM Congratulations! I hope you win it! :bassist::bassist::bassist: Oreomeister365 12-09-2007, 09:56 AM If they deserve an award for different songs/albums fine, but they don't deserve much of anything for this particular song. It sounds completely wrong to me on distorted guitar, loses all of its emotion. Seeing as the grammy is an award for this particular song, then all those saying the deserve it for all their past work need to get their heads out of their asses; this ain't about that. Steveł 12-09-2007, 07:44 PM When Metallica was the best heavy metal band on Earth and true pioneers of the genre, they lost the Grammy for best heavy metal album to Jethro Tull, a band that had been around for decades and wasn't really metal nor particularly heavy. Now that Metallica has been around for decades and has apparently forgotten how to even play their instruments properly, they could win a Grammy. What other deserving band would have to be screwed out of it in order for Metallica to recieve the Grammy, now? I remember watching that show and wondering what the hell Jethro Tull were doing in a heavy metal category. Don't get me wrong, JT is my all-time favorite band and I loved Crest of a Knave, but winning a heavy metal grammy with it was too much even for a die-hard fan like me. Metallica really should have won that award, but I don't think they should win one now because they lost that one. No one should win an award for a crap song because they lost an album award 20 years ago. Not that I'm saying this song is crap (I have no opinion on the song - didn't listen to it), just trying to make a point. Each song/album should be judged on its own merit. Linkert 12-10-2007, 08:21 AM What? A grammy for that song!? Its not that great.. They have done better. kaputsport 12-10-2007, 09:55 AM Honestly, I had no idea they were still around... I don't pay much attention to them anymore... After the black album, I stopped listening... I think they deserved to win before, but that is what happens sometimes... You lose what you should have won... Honestly, if they win now, after selling out like they did, they are just tarnishing the award the same way it was tarnished when they lost... Good Luck... Norwegianwood 12-10-2007, 04:07 PM Is that kirk playing in the beginning? Is he that messed up? Used to be a great hard rock guitar player... msquared 12-10-2007, 04:52 PM Why do people have to be nasty? Because there are those of us who found the Cliff-era Metallica to be flat out amazing who didn't get the joke when the later stuff came out. More power to you guys if you find something good about it, and I realize that it's their creative vision (or lack thereof), but I reserve the right to be somewhat insulted and angry at what I percieve as them resting on their laurels and writing boring music for the sake of making money. Especially after seeing what Mustaine has been up to lately. I didn't have such a problem with them "selling out" before seeing Some Kind of Monster and finding out just how much they love the dough and just how badly Newsted was treated. And while I don't think it's very mature to jump into a Metallica thread and spoil everyone's rosy glow, I definitely share the feelings expressed by others on the topic. Matt Till 12-10-2007, 09:54 PM Is that kirk playing in the beginning? Is he that messed up? Used to be a great hard rock guitar player... Pretty sure Hetfield played lead. He needs to stick to rhythm. :hmm: Linkert 12-11-2007, 01:42 AM Pretty sure Hetfield played lead. He needs to stick to rhythm. :hmm: Hetfield is not that bad.. But ye, if hes gotten back in to the drinking he might suck dick.. Valerus 12-11-2007, 01:57 AM I heard King Diamond is up for one too, but it's around 20 years too late.
