This is a great bass and original. Black on black with a maple board,
I purchased it from The Lowend a while back and like it but really want one with a rosewood board. So, if you have a 70's era jazz with a rosewood board and want a maple one, let's talk.
Here is the info on it:
At first glance this bass looks like a '75 jazz bass but it is actually a '76. This is what makes this one RARE. Most of the '76 jazz basses you find will have the serial number on the headstock. Even the posting from the lowend had it listed as a '75 and I found out otherwise when I received it. There listing is here:

In early 1976 Fender still produced the basses with the serial number on the neckplate it was not until later in 1976 that they changed to putting the serial number on the headstock and changed the serial numbering scheme. The serial number on this one makes it an early '76 model and the pickups are dated in March 1976, from what I remember. The bass is all original as far as I know. When I purchased it from the lowend, the neck pickup was bad and I sent the bass to Mike Lull. He diagnosed a break in the pickup winding and we had it sent out to Linda Fralin who rewound it to stock specs. The bass was then setup and inspected by Mike. It plays well and sounds great, I am just looking for a rosewood board but will sell this one outright for $2700
I will post pics later this weekend but for now you can use the Lowend posting to see pictures. Thanks!
