FS: Epiphone ELITE / ELITIST Thunderbird T-Bird
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I have recently purchased 2 different basses that were on my G.A.S. list, I NEED to sell my Epiphone Elitist Thunderbird.
Basic Specs:
4 Strings
Made in Japan in 2003
Excellent condition with a healthy, but not excessive, amount of player wear as this bass was my #1 for the last 2 years. Wear includes the usual assortment of dings and scratches to the headstock and buckle rash / worming on the back of the body – this is no “under the bed” bass but it definitely hasn’t been abused either. I made the gloss neck into a satin-finish via rubbing with the appropriate plastic fine sanding pads. Please note that the back of the neck does sport a couple of dings and scratches but nothing that catches on your hands.
I moved a strap button to the the back of the body to cure neck-dive which, in conjunction with the upgraded Hipshot ultralite tuners (I’ll also include the originals) -an $80 upgrade, it definitely hangs as it should without diving.
Mahogany Body with sunburst finish
Mahogany set neck with rosewood board - 34" scale.
Jazz-width nut
passive chrome US Gibson humbuckers.
The pickup and control cavities have all been shielded
seperate volume control knob for each pickup / 1 tone knob
I replaced the original knobs with nicer looking “witch-hats” but the originals are also included (one has a crack in it)
Weight - (The best part) - a very reasonable 8.5 lbs (according to my semi-accurate bathroom scale) definitely no "boat-anchor".
The build quality, sound and playability is everything that you'd expect from an Elitist T-Bird. It can truly do everything a US Gibson T-Bird can do, and then some, and does it with better quality fit and finish. Some people on this board have indicated that they prefer the sound of the Japanese Elite T-Birds to their US brothers. I'd definitely agree, and this one doesn't dive.
It comes with a very high quality hard case with all of the case candy (case does sport some scratches but still looks pretty good) as well as a special-order Ritter T-Bird double-strap gigbag which cost me an additional $80.
Price is $850 plus shipping (which will likely be more than average due to the large case and the gig bag). I'm not really looking for trades unless it is for a Lakland Hollowbody or a combination of a Playstation 3, Guitar Hero 3 and/or Rock Band plus cash from you. In any event, feel free to be creative.
While I would love to sell this bass internationally, the aggravations and the extreme cost involved with sending such a large package internationally requires me to limit this bass to the US and Canada only.

For some low-tech, "non-tweaked" sound-bites of it taken from a recording of one of my band's shows, please check out the audio and video clips on our myspace page:

Definitely feel free to shoot me any questions.
Thanks!
