I bought this bass a short while ago from COELHO, check out the original Deal Thread. (http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=377681)
I'm in agreement with Coelho, this is the best sounding bass I have ever held in my hands. EVER. Thru my SVP-Pro, my Eden Navigator, thru an Aguilar AG500.....no EQ needed whatsoever, the sound was the most amazing thing Ive ever heard.
This is what TB'ers mean when they talk about the "original Warwicks"...... Wenge neck, recessed straplocks, brass Just-A-Nut, slim-profile necks ( not the ovangkol "Louisville Sluggers" in use on todays models ), AMAZINGLY strong and clear factory Seymour Humbuckers with MEC electronics, handmade in Germany!!
It was clear the previous owner was meticulous, and used the bass rarely. There were no nicks, no scrapes, no swirls, no dents, no fretwear, no thumb rub on or near the pickups, no dust....... a bass in absolutely BRAND NEW condition. The only indication that this bass was not fresh off the line, was a bit of tarnish on the bell brass frets. Since Ive owned it, I disassembled, cleaned and oiled the bridge assembly, and I used medium fine steel wool over the entire body to remove any possible build-up buried in the grain, polished the entire instrument with the Warwick wax, then brought it to a shine with a buffing wheel. I also used medium fine steel wool soaked with machine oil to remove the tarnish on the frets. I then lightly sanded the fretboard with super fine steel wool soaked with lemon oil, wiped out, gave a second run with a terry towel and lemon oil to remove any remaining dirt, Warwick waxed, buffed and restrung with D'Addario Medium Lights.
Although its on the heavy side, this is the best sounding bass Ive ever played. A staff member at Sam Ash NYC remarked that it sounded better than his Fodera.... a statement echoed by Coelho. Why am I selling? I'm just not a six string guy.... I Just cant get used to the string spacing. Ideally, I would like to trade this bass for the same instrument in a five string, but I will accept any of the trades listed below.
