Is it just me or do you L2K owners also crank your treble and bass on full and never mess with it much? The only adjustments I ever make are to flip to front pick up at times and flip to center passive/active at times.

Depends on the music. Don't be afraid to test them there tone knobs out. Best Walishness, ala Geddy Lee Wal, is both pickups, series, and the bass rolled back 60-75% and treble full or less depending on strings. Jim lug 12-10-2007, 02:29 PM Actually I run the bass control back 50% or more. Depends on the music. +1 It took me a while to back off the bass and treble a bit since I've never done it with other "passive" controls. 50% is my sweet spot most of the time as well. metron 12-10-2007, 04:00 PM I set bass and treble at about 50% as well. I usually adjust up or down from there depending on whats called for. The bass knob doesnt move much but sometimes treble goes all the way up or down. Actually now that I think about it I use the bass knob almost exclusively to tame the slammin' bass in the series pickup setting. Thunder Pulse 12-10-2007, 08:37 PM Is there an L-2000 owner's manual available for download? I've got a used L-2000 coming but I don't think I'm getting any paperwork and I'd like to have an idea of how all the switches work. rodl2005 12-10-2007, 10:04 PM Am getting a L-2000 off a mate this week!!! :-) I imagine-from what I've read I'll use at 50% also then U have the 'illusion' of cut AND boost. Re -owners manual I think -IIRC- the G & L site has info re controls www.glguitars.com Ahhh I don't think it lists them as to each specific control, Just lists what they do. So if anyone can fill us in here.... eg. knob closest to neck does...... switch closest to neck...., middle knob.... middle switch..... bridge knob..... bridge switch... Be GREAT Thanks in advance! Thanks vicenzajay 12-18-2007, 11:57 PM With my L2K, the settings I'm happiest with are (with TI Jazz rounds): Bass - rolled off about 40% Treble - rolled off about 20% Both pickups (toggle centered) Parallel (toggle aft) Passive (toggle aft) For me, this is magic and the resultant tone sits wonderfully in the mix...articulate and punchy but not overwhelming. To be honest, over the years, I've learned to dislike the "series" tone of just about every instrument I own. It sounds too "electronic" and "pushed" for me, and there is a clarity to parallel humbuckers that just does it for me. Anyway - thats my .02 for L2K tone controls. Jay metron 12-19-2007, 09:13 AM Jay your settings are nearly identical to what I set mine to most of the time. I have never really cared much for series either and have ignored it for the most part. However I have found recently that I do like series if I cut the bass almost all the way. ErnieD 12-25-2007, 05:49 AM I just posted on another G&L thread how I dont want to play any of my basses now but my used 55-02 w/barts. I used to love to play my G&L L2500 only, neck pup, series, passive, treble off, bass wide open. Then I bought the -02 and none of my other basses seem to do it for me now. Maybe some new tone settings on the L2500 will bring me back around to it. Never thought of selling my G&L but a -02 with LH3's is making me gassy to try one. |
