VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : When folks ask "What kind of music do you play?"

Greetings Janek,

There are few things I dislike more than being stuck in a position where someone expects you to describe your music in four words or less. I'd truly like to be able to accurately describe my music for promotional purposes, but it never seems possible without closing certain doors on my music - even with the "artist x meets artist y meets artist z" kind of responses. Not throwing up a clear genre oriented answer makes it seem that I don't have a clear idea of my music, while it seems that anything else would just confuse people.

Regards,
Aaron

it's a tough one, I rarely have an answer.

for marketing purposes it always depends which market you're heading for. If I'm trying to book a jazz festival then it's jazz for instance...

I really don't have an answer for anyone except to check out the album and make up your own mind. Let yourself have an opinion and don't be confined by someone elses description of a genre.

Easy,

Janek

Just tell them it's mostly good. Works every time. :smug:

I like that.

I often tell people "well I dig it......."
