It's not relevant to life. It's some stoner rambling out 3 half sentences.

Actually not a stoner....maybe sometimes many years ago.

It is a quote of his from the closed "Fodera Bass" thread that was very active earlier today. Sorry I didn't explain, but my thought was that those that have reviewed it or were posting would recall.

No opinion on the opinions in that thread...just appreciation for Janek's thought.

Thanks....obviously his statement was in relation to one's continuing process of creating music and having it be always fresh.

I just believe that. very much. To keep evolving is one of the toughest things to accomplish, and may never be possible for some people. I know I find it almost impossible to even think about sometimes, never mind actually do. It took me three years to feel comfortable enough to make a second album (coming out next month), so I know I have a long way to go before I could even begin to consider myself successful at evolving. And I'm not trying to be self deprecating in any way or looking for pity, I just want to clarify where the mental state is coming from in the evolution of playing and writing for me.

Not sure I dig the comment about the stoner thing too much. was that aimed at me? or the person quoting me? either way it's uncalled for.

You're very welcome.

The sentiment of the quote is powerful and I think as a credo, a manner of being that allows one to be experiencing life in such a full way. This doesn't mean that playing music that was played or created 30 years ago isn't satisfying or a waste of time, but that forging new paths based on the current moment is a very exciting alternative, one that for which we have less knowledge about the outcome. Hey, if on any given night you decide to stay home, you pretty much know what's going to happen, but if you go out....who knows?

RE the stoner thing....I think this was directed at me as I initially didn't explain the origin of the quote or reasons behind it...still haven't completely, but I posted it thinking those involved in that closed thread would have the reference to know where it was coming from.
