VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : asat tribute?
foyos 12-12-2007, 04:52 AM in a music shop here in Lisbon there's a asat bass for sale.so far so good, but my doubt is it says tribute in real small letters in the headstock.does that mean what?it's a Japanese tribute series bass?i'm asking cause i thing the guys that work there are not playing with the whole deck you know?they are saying it's a G&L
they also ask like 1000euros(that's a bit over 1000usd)is that a fair price?
thanks for the help guys
Willem 12-12-2007, 07:35 AM 1000 euros is wel over 1000 dollar, it's a little over 1400 dollar...
I've never heard of an asat tribute. Does it really say asat and tribute on the headstock? Maybe an asat body with a tribute neck from an L2000 or JB2?

thanks for the help guys I bolded the most likely option. If I'm not mistaken, the G&L's for the Japanese market have been using the "Tribute" moniker long before we (the US) began getting the imports. I have no idea about quality/parts/etc.

If that is the bass, it could be very interesting indeed. Now, whether 1000 Euros is a fair price, I cannot say. Is it new, or used? That might have some bearing.
foyos 12-16-2007, 11:58 AM first off, thanks for the help.
i guess it's a fair price by what they say in that site...do i dare?i'm gasing...
damn you G&L
hoerni 12-16-2007, 01:04 PM Is it possible to tell from the serial number?
I'm just wondering because my ASAT was very cheap, but looks more like the MIJ than the MIA models on that site. I don't think it says Tribute anywhere though.
cofoss 01-02-2008, 06:13 PM where can i see that an asat is a made in uSA or a tribute?

USA serial numbers stated with B---- and then went to CLF more recently.
The only ASAT Tribute is made in Japan and while I have never seen one, see this Ebay auction a a MIJ Tribby SB-2
