OhThePeacock 01-15-2008, 07:18 PM i hope i'm not the only one who noticed the first B has been scratched off the russky bassballs, and laughed
i think my immaturity has hit an all time low.
Look at the page before, he posted a close up.
Mudfuzz 01-15-2008, 10:31 PM Here is my board, it'll be a lot cleaner when I get my pedalpower II.

Tomass 01-16-2008, 03:07 AM latest pic. i removed the Bass Synth Wah cos i'm not using it that much. waiting for my analogman mini chorus, VFB and my new pedalboard. maybe i'll add a Rat to mix with Pog through VFB.

How does the MXR Bass DI rate against the Fulltone BassDrive, in terms of distortion/overdrive. Im looking at getting either one, but for a more heavier distortion sound (think Fear Factory). By the way nice board, very clean and setup well.

i use the mxr DI primarily for my preamp and boost, i like the mid scoop effect of the color botton, but some people doesn't like it at all. i was using the distortion of mxr DI before but i find it thin and scratchy, now i'm using the bassdrive for overdrive sound which is more low end and very clear tone for me. i use the comp-cut right now. i'm getting a rat or turbo rat for distortion purposes to blend with VFB. thanks for the compliment!

tumpinjahosafat 01-16-2008, 12:22 PM nice board man. Question, how is the profile of that looper pedal? I had a loooper but it was about 2 inches tall and very bulky and unwanted, how does that one work for your fung shwey?latest pic. i removed the Bass Synth Wah cos i'm not using it that much. waiting for my analogman mini chorus, VFB and my new pedalboard. maybe i'll add a Rat to mix with Pog through VFB.

its actually a Loop-Master but no paint and letterings/decals. i rushed the order and paid extra bucks cos i wanted it fast. dimensions are 10" X 2" X 1 1/2" (Length, Depth, Height) sorry man but what is "fung shwey"?
tumpinjahosafat 01-16-2008, 04:03 PM haha i mean how does it work for you? Is it bulky? I found that my loooper was a monster compared to the other pedals on the board, thus making me irritated. its actually a Loop-Master but no paint and letterings/decals. i rushed the order and paid extra bucks cos i wanted it fast. dimensions are 10" X 2" X 1 1/2" (Length, Depth, Height) sorry man but what is "fung shwey"?

oh, pardon my ignorance.;) its not bulky at all. what is your looper's brand by the way? it works really good that i wish i ordered the 5 loopers so i could control my effects one for each loop. so now i'm stucked with 3 that's why i'm putting 1 or 2 effects in one loop. makes effects switching so much easy, specially with the master bypass. for me i find it really good. and the plus is you can position your effects anywhere in the board without worrying how to step them.:)
bassman314 01-18-2008, 02:47 AM after much deliberation and consolidation, I have combined my 2 boards into one....
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/bassman314/Crazy%20Stuff/DSCF0990.jpg
Signal chain is: Bass -> Loop-Master -> Mr. Squishy -> AB/Y -> Hot-Tubes -> DOD 250 -> Muff -> Wah -> Bassballs -> Q-tron -> Small Stone -> Chorus -> Reverb -> SansAmp
If I am going direct (most sunday mornings) I don't use the A-channel on the AB/Y pedal, and then go from the SansAmp to the House. Otherwise, the A-channel is sent to a Fender Reverb tank -> Ampeg SVT3 Pro -> Aguilar 1x15. The SansAmp goes to a GK Backline 600 -> GK 2x10.
You'll see that I have a Loop-Master that is going, well... no where. I use it so I have foot control of a couple of effects (and tuner send), and then have them on a music stand at waist level so I can easily adjust controls:

varunkapahi 01-18-2008, 12:18 PM i built this pedal board today it self! :D
nothing too fancy neither the look nor the pedals
and yeah thats zoom is a guitar multi fx i use it for crazy sounds (envelop filters and wah and phasor and flanger and etc) but actually it stays on bypass or unplugged most of the time ( a friend left it at my place so am using it for now)

UnDoNe 01-18-2008, 01:52 PM Here's mine. All on a Pedaltrain 2 and powered by a Diago powerstation. Signal goes bass - red onion loop with tuner mute - boss tu2 - sovtek muff - bassballs - analogman small stone - then out the loop to tonefactor 442 - guyatone md3.
I love it!

OhThePeacock 01-18-2008, 04:47 PM Okay, seriously this time...I'll have pics up within a couple days. I finally got all the pedals I'm buying for a while.
5stringwonder 01-19-2008, 02:12 AM Here's mine. Waiting on an insert cable to complete the board. Everything's going to be in the effect loop of the Bassbone.
Got a bigger board (aka fun board) in the works too. Will post pics when I finish it, hopefully soon.

5stringwonder 01-19-2008, 09:06 AM Thanks...The DM-3 has the MOJO!!
OhThePeacock 01-19-2008, 11:17 AM Wow, everything on that board is either discontinued or made in a different color besides the Tonebone and StrobeOstomp. Bravo!

Would love to have one, can't justify the huge amount they go for now though. I do have a pickle pie on its way though, that should suffice for now :)
Did I read somewhere you have/had a D*A*M Ram Head? How did it sound? Missed out on one on ebay this morning :(

Terrorstorm 01-20-2008, 04:31 PM Here's my little new comer, the infamous Dunlop Bass Wha, thanks to Lebowsky! Seems like an older version, I couldn't find the internal trimpot which is said to set the delay setting the pedal uses to bypass the signal in toe-up position.

I don't use the ODB-3 without the Bass Drive. The Bass Drive nicely takes away the harshness of it.
jesus_tequila 01-21-2008, 07:25 AM I can see that you're also a fan of old DOD pedals :D
The Bass Grunge is incredibely loud, huge sounding, like a squad of angry Mammoths. Most of all, no bottom loss , thanks to the blending pot.
Plus, it's compact and you can easily pick one up on the bay for cheap. Probably one of the best bass fuzz pedals around.

bastom 01-22-2008, 10:31 AM A half year ago, dad and me made this in an afternoon... you can see it allready way to small! it was a prototype, and surved well, i'll still use it, once i get some more patchcables, i'll set it up for my lapsteel or guitar.
I checked this topic for over a year, and finally am able to post some pictures in it too. hope you like them, oh, dont mind the mess on top of the board! scroll down to check out my current setup (no board yet :( )

jesus_tequila 01-22-2008, 12:38 PM I guess your needs in overdrive & fuzz stompboxes are satisfied :D
Stuggi 01-22-2008, 01:05 PM How's the Doc Q for bass, I've heard it doesn't work that well? :/
jesus_tequila 01-22-2008, 02:16 PM Yep, I heard that pedal works well on guitar but is way too much subtle on bass.
BTW, what's that black-sparling painted Boss, bastom?
cathal 01-22-2008, 03:25 PM looks like an boss overdrive spray painted.
bastom 01-22-2008, 06:53 PM correct, i didnt do the painting tho - i got this pedal very cheap, actually bougth it for the case, you never know.. its a old DS-1 or SD-1 i forgot...
And yep, you guys are right, the Doctor Q doesnt work to well with the bass... i got it in a packagedeal, when i bought the Boss BF-2 and got bouth the original small stone and the doctor q (70's). Actually, most of those pedals on the board, have been tested, but not really working for bass (except the pearls and the boss (tw-1 and dd6). I'll use them for my lapsteel and guitar;...
I also have a RI Ampeg Scrambler, Maestro SS (sustainer) and a rare Locobox Spaceship Flanger and two EHX BIG Muff (rus).
I know, i have been buying.. mostly to test them out, i soon most likely sell a bunch...
P.S. Jesus-Tequila: Using only one fuzz, the big muff, and mostly only in combination with the morley pwb.. the ibanez ts-9 is a mild overdrive, its set so it doesnt sound so extreme, just a little distorted. And the b:assmaster... well, thats not the classic overdrive/fuzz - its awesome but not subtle - you cant use it in everything!
bassman314 01-22-2008, 07:27 PM How's the Doc Q for bass, I've heard it doesn't work that well? :/
It is REALLY subtle on Bass. like really light.. If you want a dripping wet envelop sound, then this is not likely for you. If you just want a bit o'honey to sweeten your funk? this might be your beast :-)

I like your pedals man, but holy crap all I see is cables! I think that might give SEV's spaghetti cable monster a run for its money. Do you step on the pedals with the cables all over like that? I would suggest invest in some cable kits, or just smaller patch cables. Otherwise very nice pedal choices there :)
waffle puzzle 01-22-2008, 09:53 PM good observation---I do have a better cable system, but when I took the pictures, I was still messing around with setting things up---we share a practice space with another band, and sometimes I'm sloppy.
I do have some planet waves kit cables in there for some short stuff, and am working on it....
OH---I use the MXR blowtorch in the same "loop" as the digital delay and autowah to bump a bit of extra oomph in that line.

They do, the only problem is, they are $10 a piece, and if I need 4, then thats $40, so I might as well buy the stinkin kit again, haha. My ocd is just going to cost me in life, and I have to face it. Hopefully within the next week of so though, I will have pics of my finished board. It has nothing to do with "coolness", simply culture.
Tomass 01-23-2008, 02:40 PM I agree that people dont do it to be cool, it really is just an annoying form of culture, but why would someone do it anyway. It would be harder to come up with ways to use a single letter to represent a whole word anyway

Maybe it's his location. Not everyone speaks English as their first language.
BTW - culture does not equal language. 2 different things. One is dialect and the other is a way of life.

dude, look at what he wrote again. That's not "I don't know any English," that's "I know the English, now watch me mangle the hell out of it."

Nice board! Very clean setup. What cables do you use? Do you always crank the sustain on the LBM.

Thanks! The board is homemade with tolex/leather type covering. It came out real nice and I have it angled but you can't see that. Cables are Planet Waves cable station kit. As for the LBM, I have not tried it in a loud setting or even semi loud. I live in apt and we are finally going to practice today so I can tweak it out. In a low setting it sounds decent with sustain cranked, but I will see later on today.

diechris 01-26-2008, 03:06 PM so after a long haul between bands.. ive finally found one i can see myself having fun with and started out with my "old" pedal board... and 2 weeks later im down to this..
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/1250/dscn1648xj5.th.jpg (http://img341.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscn1648xj5.jpg)
its true.. i got rid of my LMB-3 and the DHA VT-1 is looking like it'll be on ebay if not craigslist. i replaced the lmb-3 with a rackmount dbx 166a and i couldnt be happier!
the VT-1 sounds amazing.. but its the same thing that happened when i had my english muff'n.. didnt fit with the current band and i cant justify letting it pickup dust. im looking to go back with a hematoma or fulltone.
ive also started using a pbass so the sub is definitely staying. the xxl will be staying until further notice also.
JoshC 01-26-2008, 04:32 PM I re-velcroed everything up last night and here is how it looks with my new Screwdriver.
http://i27.tinypic.com/1z1vh92.jpg
Tomass 01-26-2008, 04:41 PM Classy board Josh, how did you manage to do the angle with the lexon/perspex, just glue or right angeled bracket?
JoshC 01-26-2008, 04:51 PM I glued the lexan with a heavey duty silcone glue that's held up extremely well. The board is about a year old and has travelled cross country basically with me and has held up quite well.
Sven Olaffson 01-27-2008, 04:43 PM With the ecent purchase of a Boss Ce2B chorus, I had to reconfigure a bit:
This picture is too dark:
http://fr.guitarplug.com/img/membres/normal/1/2/123895.jpg
This one is too clear:
http://fr.guitarplug.com/img/membres/normal/1/2/123896.jpg
Signal path:
basses -> in/out box -> tuner -> octaver -> overdrive -> looper/blender -> fuzz in the loop -> chorus -> phaser -> tremolo -> wha -> volume -> in/out box
Now I've got to deal with the cables ... crappy cables go out !!

Poor mans lexan glue; pieces of lexan dissolved in acetone, works like a charm, the pieces you glue gets welded real tight.

Grind It Out 01-28-2008, 10:41 PM its been probably over a year since ive actually posted anything on here, but, i rewired my baby back up for an audition the other night and i couldnt be happier - been running a very very simple rig with a cover band for the past year, but, i think this one will get a gig test on friday
last time i posted this, i got some flames and some compliments - it's VERY obvious who my favorite bassist is and ive spent a LOT of time tracking things down, listening, having stuff built, and finding a way to get my own version of the sound, so, i still shine through (i refuse to play a fender, so, there's one big sonic difference)
enough excuses - this is what i use, and you can make fun of me or applaud my efforts
you guys have TONS of great stuff on here and its always tempting for me to try a new distortion pedal i see someone using, but, im very content with this

C-man 01-28-2008, 11:21 PM thanks for the feedback guys :D
yeah halfway through this whole building a pedal board thing i decided that I really like synths/ringmods/out there sounds
to answer you question thunderstorm, I'm liking the analyzer, but its either takening some time for me to get the hang of it or it's just a little lacking when its placed right next to the moog, but then again it doesn't have the moogs price tag so i'd have to say I'm enjoying messing around with it
I finally figured out how to get some cool sounds out of the fm-4 as well :bassist:

MysticBoo 01-28-2008, 11:31 PM Is the Electric Mistress worth buying?
For me, yes. :D
For others... it depends. The chorus section is great, but it isn't an over-the-top chorus. It's deep, but not super-deep.
The flanger section is something else entirely. It's very different than the classic Boss BF-2. I can't guarantee that you'll like the sound, but I can definitely guarantee that you won't find another flanger that sounds like it. ;)
Together, the chorus and flanger work very well together; they're not in series, but in parallel - something that doesn't exist in any other pedal, and is rarely done by those who have separate chorus and flanger pedals (most people run them in series). And the Filter Matrix mode is bizarre, but fun. Plus, stereo outputs and a color-changing LED that shifts with the rate are icing on the cake.
I'd recommend checking out my review on the Mistress, and listening to the soundclips that I did, as well as the ones Chronicle did (he also compared it to other flangers and did soundclips for those, too). Be sure to check out other flangers, too!

What MXR is that? Blue Box or bass octave? If it's the bass octave, how do you like? Please compare to the Ashdown Sub-Octave. Also, talk about the Ashdown Sub-Octave in general. Likes? Dislikes?
Nice board overall, man!
thejoey57 01-29-2008, 11:24 AM It's the bass octave
I like both of them for different reasons
MXR- The tracking is decent, but the reason i keep it on my board is it teams up nicely with my bassdrive. It seems to add a nice warmness to it, which some may not enjoy
Ashdown- The tracking IS better than the MXR. It also preserves your tone much better too so that is a plus. Sometimes I'll turn up the built in octave distortion which doesn't really break up, but makes it hugely full of bass. The only problem I've had with the Ashdown is the switch sometimes doesn't click on or off all the time. I use the Ashdown in conjunction with my wholly mammoth which is just ridiculously awesome
They are both great pedals as I use them for two different jobs

MysticBoo 01-29-2008, 05:21 PM No delay pedal boo?
Nope... long story short, I returned the Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai. But to clarify, nothing's wrong with it - it's the best delay pedal I've ever worked with so far, without going into the $300+ realm.
I would've kept it if I could make use of it with my current band, and could afford to keep it. Realistically speaking, I've learned that I really don't need a complex delay at all. Regardless, I don't really need a delay pedal yet... I mostly wanted it to play with for a while and give a good review.
It's been a rough semester, financially. :hmm:

But seriously, with updates from Boo, its usually how much awesome he can possibly cram onto that tiny thing. Its always a lot of it.
mattq 01-29-2008, 11:03 PM Nevermind... Some piece of **** stole both of my pedalboards, my vintage reverb, and several odds and ends of my gear as well as the church's gear from my church!!!!

dude that sucks. i got my ipod stolen from church before. it's just so unexpected
OhThePeacock 01-29-2008, 11:03 PM Oh bassman, when my stuff was stolen it was covered under homeowner's insurance. Insurace covers things at list price, not price payed which comes in handy...the only problem is the deductable.

The PT 2 is what I'm rocking now. I really need to fill this out... I need my Volume and my Tone Czar Modded Volume (into expression), and then a few others, and I'll have some something to post... Maybe a Tone Hammer first.

how DID you like the PolyPhase? :D
pedrodelawasp 01-30-2008, 06:45 AM When funds permit I'll be making changes and expanding my set-up. There's a thumbnail of a diagram of my signal path at the bottom of this post. Normally the eq and super overdrive are left on all the time and i use the line selector to either blend my clean and overdriven sounds or switch between the two. The multi-effect is great for it's easy to use compressor, noise reduction (there's a dial at the back) and most of the effects are pretty useable and don't take away from the natural tone of my bass. Let me know what you think.:bassist:

There's no PolyPhase in any of those pics (are you looking at the Clone Theory), but MysticBoo did do a review of it. The title had some lame Star Trek pun :p

dancehallclasher 01-30-2008, 12:11 PM I predict that Boo will trade up to the new Pedaltrain Jr. with the mounting brackets underneath for a Pedalpower 2 so he can fit another pedal on there. There is no way this will fail to happen.
Vic Winters 01-30-2008, 09:20 PM Updated. Made a new board. Bigger, angled, power supply mounted. Sadly no Triforce this time. Removed the GEB-7, added the Opto Stomp. I have an MXR M-80 coming that's going to fill the big space on the left and I should be done for a while.

phat daddy 01-30-2008, 10:05 PM I've got a board that I just made that looks a lot like that, just wider than it is deep. Just finished getting it painted last night and mounted the pedals about an hour ago. I've got a pretty busy night ahead of me, but I'll post a pic or two of the finished product tomorrow.

isn't it hard to work a wah that far away from you?
Vic Winters 01-31-2008, 05:54 AM Not really, the angle of the board helps.
Limlam 01-31-2008, 09:03 AM Nope... long story short, I returned the Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai.
:hmm:
I just got the Stereo memory man w/ hazarai just the other day and so far its hands down the best delay pedal ive ever used, id say i prefer it to the pigtronix echolution, i never really fully made use of the multi tap functions and the stereo memory man is less than half price and to me so much more user friendly.

Vic Winters 01-31-2008, 08:36 PM Well since I had my old board laying around, and I picked up a GCB-95 today, I decided to make a second board for guitar since I like to dabble a bit. If you're interested, Visual Sound makes a daisy chain of power connectors that are right angled for only about 9 bucks. I bought a couple and was able to clean up the look of my board tremendously and have a little more freedom with positioning my pedals.
I mention this as it looks like you had to do some creative manouvering to fit the longer straight connectors on all the pedals.

eyvindwa 02-02-2008, 06:54 AM No argument there :D
The LBM is just for the octave up out of the Micro POG, for a rhythm guitar-like sound when my guitarist is playing lead. The Blowtorch and the B:ASSMASTER are different enough that I find it worthwhile to keep both on the board. Not too much room for anything but fuzz, though :/
redstrand 02-02-2008, 08:14 AM 'Tis the modded one...with a Bass Synth set on the octave down....sounds like a farty hammond organ. All the low end I want.

18"x43"x8" I built it like a tank so its heavy. Doesnt slide around or move while its on stage its just getting it there. This is only my second attempt at a pedal board and did make some design mistakes. One i am using a soft keyboard bag to move it around. Because i didnt look online to see on avg what isthe biggest ATA pedal board case WITHOUT having to go custom. So i will be down sizing my board to 40x16 at least. Going with a case company in Montreal VERY well built and decent price.

My pedal board is currently in disarray. Two pedals heading off to their new home in Israel, with a third being repaired on the other side of the continent. I feel almost naked without them. Of course, that might have to something to do with the fact that I can't find my pants.

I'd also like to know what you did with the MF-101. It looks liked something really helpful! I'm assuming you filled in the hole where the original switch was with the LED, then put the 2 footswitches to the sides. Is one of them just a true bypass switch?
funkyzebulon 02-03-2008, 05:09 AM You got it ! It's a true bypass switch. The gain was always "on", I wouldn't to have it up all the time. So now, I have a true bypass switch (right) and a filter on/off (left), so I can choose between bypass/clean boost/filter boosted. Isn't it good ? :hyper:
The wood bindings were lost-space-generators on my board, and I can put some cables under moogerfoogers, better than a "wiremess".
I'll try to do a vid, but my digital camera is soooooo old, I'll give it a try.

Have same eq setting, what bass and amp do you use?
funkyzebulon 02-03-2008, 05:43 AM The CP251 is an analog multi-processor. You have a LFO, two attenuatnors, on lag generator, un 4 channels mixer, one noise generator, etc etc...
This unit can modify any parameter of any moogerfooger : for example for adding a sine wave onto the cutoff you just have to plug a patch cable from the triangle wave LFO's to the IN of the lag generator, then you set the RISE and FALL settings at 12 o'clock (to transform the triangle wave into a sine wave) and you send the OUT of lag to your cutoff jack IN.
(I'm french, so my english isn't that good, so forgive my mistakes....)

Pretty much anything with a CV in will work with the CP-251. All the moogerfoogers, a few frostwave pedals, and a few others.

Sort of... We're getting out of my league when we start talking about the midi stuff, but it works as another CV controller as well. Just took a quick look at it, and it seems to be pretty programable with different LFO options, and presets and such. Looks pretty programable and is probably really tweakable. Some similar options as the CP251 has, and some different possible connections too.
If this had been out when I got my CP251 I probably would have thought about this instead. The footswitches and built in expression pedal would be more usefull to me (and probably guitar/bassists in general) since I could use it while playing.

Jusballs13: The Bottom Feeder is really nice, definately subtle when it comes to envelope filters. It allows the true tone of your bass to come through while still getting quite juicey or *whacky*. If you want a rough idea of how it sounds, listen to the bass line for "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz. It's not exactly the same, but it sounds VERY close :)

Looking to get a BBE Boosta Grande and some kinda porkchop of a distortion or overdrive.
How's your optostomp?

Optostomp = awesome. I use it on my Rick and it's really transparent. It does the job nicely. Worth the 80$ new they go for.
andvari7 02-04-2008, 09:20 PM I don't have a board proper, but that's because I spend my money on effects.
tumpinjahosafat 02-04-2008, 09:26 PM how would you compare the bass morley to the reg morley?

Wow, yeah... no $ for shoes & socks either! ;)
andvari7 02-04-2008, 09:45 PM how would you compare the bass morley to the reg morley?
Well, for starters, I'd say the bass Morley works, whereas the Morley Pro Wah (the black one) doesn't. Not very well, anyway - I'm going to be remedying this in the next two months (along with my No-Thunderfunk-itis).
I would sooner compare the blue Morley to a Crybaby 105Q bass wah, and the comparison is mainly in the chassis. I much prefer the Morley, because it has a low center of gravity, and doesn't tip over when I step on it.
Plus, it cost $30, whereas my brother spent $100 on his Crybaby when it came out.
I'm more enthusiastic aboot the RT-20 than anything else in my rig right now. New toys are so much fun...

I don't wear my shoes around the house (especially since they're just about covered in road grime - it was a rainy, slushy day in suburban Madison, WI), and I had been stuck in a pair of socks since 6:00 this morning.

So far I love mine too! Easy, effective, clean.
Oreomeister365 02-05-2008, 07:32 AM I applaud your ability to continue to fit more stuff on that board.
andvari7 02-05-2008, 07:52 AM whats the vox like?
Everyone uses the Les Paul/Strat analogy with the Vox and the Crybaby. That works for me. It's definitely a classic, vintage sound (despite the fact that it's brand new), as opposed to the Morley, which has a harsh, modern sound (harsh in a good way).
