Our annual 12/25 Klez For Kids show w/ the group Klezmerfest @ Eldridge Street Synagogue 12 Eldridge St. NY, NY
Two shows; Noon and 2:30
Greg Wall - Clarinet
Jordan Hirsh - Trumpet
Zev Zions - Accordion
Brian Glassman (bribass) - Double bass
Dave Licht - Drums
An exciting, vibrant klezmer band of shpielers that have been playing together for 12 years now and it shows. You don't have to be a kid or Jewish to enjoy this show! We're playing in a beautiful and historic, landmark location. One of the oldest Synagogues in NYC or America. There's a guided tour available as well. Well worth the visit even w/o the music and besides, it's the part of the Lower East Side that is really Chinatown nowadays, so a traditional Jewish Xmas comes complete w/ really good Chinese food just a step away.
This past fall three of us; Brian Glassman, Greg Wall, and Aaron Alexander, as well as our guest drummer for this show David Licht (a founding member of the Klezmatics), were each named by The Eldrige St. Project as part of the hundred most important Klezmer musicians of the world along w/ luminaries such as John Zorn, Don Byron, The Klezmatics,Theodore Bikel and Andy Statman. This past October we took part in the historic photograph of us all in 'A Great Day On Eldridge Street' on the steps in front of the ES Synagogue.
