Hey all!

I will be doing a four month rotational assignment in Washington DC, and as I will not be taking any graduate courses this semester, I would like to take bass lessons. Specifically, my slap technique is decidedly lacking. I can make the appropriate slap noises, but I want to become quite proficient at it, like the sounds heard on modern Gospel / R&B music. I am not limiting myself to a slap style, but this is the area I am most weak in (to date).

Are there any teachers out there? I should also mention that it will not be possible to take a lesson at my residence, as it is on a military base. I can, however, drive wherever needed or take the Metro to your location. Nights and weekends are preferred.

I greatly appreciate any help!

Thanks in advance,

Ian

Anthony Wellington is in Waldorf, Maryland. Just about a 30 to 45 min ride from you. Check out his web site for more info. He is one of the best teachers in the area.

Thanks for the tip! I've got an email in to Anthony Wellington - hopefully there are slots available!

If you can't get a slot with Anthony, I would recommend J.P. Garilli at the Music & Arts at Bailey's Crossroads. I took lessons with him for about nine months before moving to CA, and learned a lot...mostly jazz/theory, but he does slap as well.
