I never saw Dave Van Ronk live, but knew many of his recordings. He was a solid performer in his genre, and he "mentored" people who became much better known than he was; how often does that happen in the music biz? In any case, his songs were real and gritty and bespoke a lot of artistic integrity. He will be missed. |
