I'm back in church playing some bass lines and lead etc. theres no bass player and I'm not dragging my amp down there.

This church is playing old church music. most is like 3 chords. eg... "How Great Thou Art". which is A, D and E. should be easy enough right?

I'm used to playing major scale and modes but the singers seem to be all over the place. It's like everyone is singing out of key I guess. Thats how they sing down here in the islands.

so I was trying to use minor pentatonic over the songs to be safe but no luck few notes seemed off. also tried blues scale...maybe I was using the wrong blues scale. not that familiar with blues and pentatonic all over the guitar. I usually just play major and the modes.

How would I play this song ..."How Great Thou Art" in the key of A?

Try Major pentatonic the 6 should work better than the b7 of the minor pent' and Blues scale.
