Hello fellow TBer's,
I was wondering if any of you guys know what would be the best type of adhesive for putting together wooden body wings with a graphite neck???
Thanks

Polyurathane glues and Epoxies glue dissimilar materials together well. What are you building, a graphite neck-thru?

I've had good success using G2 and G3 Epoxy. West Systems is good also. I haven't used it, but a lot of people swear by Polyurathane glue.

I'm trying to build a six string fretted neck through. I've been contacting Steve at Moses to see if he'll build me such a neck. Unless anyone else knows of another company that can build graphite necks for neck through basses??? :bassist:

I used Gorilla Glue Poly glue to put the fingerboard back on the fiberglass rehab I'm working on. So far so good, it has remained tight and strong. The previous board was epoxied on and it really didn't take much to take it off.
Good luck on your project.

The complaint about polyurethane glue is you cant undo the glue joint. You want to be able to remove the fingerboard in case you need to repair the neck!
I use epoxy to glue phenolic boards on wood necks and they have held up well since I made the first basses back in 1994.
Epoxy, as with titebond and hide glue release when you heat them up hot enough.

I don't want to ever have to take the board off, it originally had no truss rod at all?????? Doh!
And it took no heat to remove the previous board, I'm guessing the epoxy cured too fast on the original maker, it came up in big chunks with very little chisel action.

Just remember to score the surfaces up for the glue to gain some extra adhesion. Many people say the Elmers pro-bond urethane glue is much better than gorillas.
