I'm working on a 5 stringer right now, but i want to do a fender-style headstock where it curves down and goes parallel (instead of a slant) I'm also planning on doing all 5 of the tuners in a row like the V string (http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0136600332)

so i guess my question is, are there any considerations i need to take to make sure that my neck doesn't snap in half? It seems simple enough, but you hardly ever see all the tuners on one side like that, i was wondering if there was a reason.

I'll probably run up to guitar center and steal a lot of the measurements straight off of the real thing.

I guess, since this is my first ground-up neck build, i was just wondering if there was something that i was missing or if this kind of headstock is harder to build/worse for any reason.

(basically, i spent a lot of money on wood and i'm scared, lol :))

Are you thinking a Parker Fly style headstock?

Theirs are wrapped with carbon fiber for support. The strain on the wood by itself would be to great I imagine.

well, no
it would just be similar to the fender style

i'll be making it out of hard maple.
was just wondering if it would need any extra reinforcement since it'll probably be almost 10 inches long

i haven't read anywhere that fender does any extra reinforcement, and i imagine it would be ok

Fender don't use any reinforcement at their headstocks so I don't think you will need any.

What did you mean by "goes parallel instead of slant" then? Fender doesn't reinforce their headstocks, but depending on what you mean, you may need to (possibly with extra lamination).

You are not referring about parallel buy to side I guess. NOpe Fender do no reinforcement at all.
