Greetings from a doghouse bass newbie in Manitoba. I have been playing electric bass (mainly Fenders with a couple of Gibsons thrown in for good measure) for approximately 40 years and absolutely love the instrument.
I decided to purchase a cheap doghouse off of and ebay vendor, and although the bass is OK, it does require a lot of setup. Hence, if the temperature decides to go above -30 Celcius (which translates into -22 Farenheit), then I am going to the Long and McQuade store in Winnipeg and purchase a new, already setup double bass that plays like a dream.
I will be getting my Internet purchase setup in the near future and will be giving that doghouse to my 21 year old son, who is already lusting after it. I am hoping that he will take a keen interest in it and perhaps play some gigs with it. Although he has toured as a 6-string guitar player, I still think that he is a marvelous bass player. Of course, my opinion is rather biased.
Anyhow...I have lurked here for a bit and really do enjoy what I have seen so far. You will definitely be gearing from me as my skill level increases and I get some chances to play live gigs with my double bass.
Thanks...
Doug
