greetings, i have rogue 6 string LX406, and was planning on going fretless and removing the fretboard and replacing it with perhaps an ebony fretless fingerboard. I know warmoth offers ebony fingerboards, but im not sure their the right size for my rogue. Anyone know where i can buy an ebony fretless board, and im not experienced with luthier stuff, so how much am I looking at to get this job done professionly by a pro? or can i somehow manage this job in my garage?:hiding:

thanks for any help

It's probably easier to de-fret your current board, unless you really really want an unlined board.

Replacing the fingerboard with an ebony one will cost you far more than the bass cost you. I'd also recommend converting the existing fretboard.

i agree about just converting the one already on the bass, but if you're set on replacing it:

You can get pretty close to unlined results if you defret your current board and fill the slots with a veneer of a similar colored wood.

or, if you want lines, use a veneer of an opposing color... :)

Staining the wood, like making it really dark, then applying epoxy on it, will make it look dark enough not to reveal the fretlines? Anyone tryed?
