Hello Patrick,
I was looking at Klaus Trumpf's website for the Sperger Competiton I am going to put together a couple of recitals based on this material. Are you familiar with the Sperger sonatas or concerti?
There seems to be three sonatas in D and one in b. As for the concertos there is a #11 and a #16.
I have located the sonatas but I am having a hard time coming across the concerti.

Hi Chris,
Sperger is good stuff from the Viennese Double Bass period and Klauss Trumpf has been a major figure in the re-issuing or publishing of much of Sperger's library of compositions. Another active researcher is Tobias Gloeckler (Dresden). He recently issued via Hofmeister and Henle some good Sperger and Dittersdorf, etc. (Thanks to Sperger, we have the Ditters and other pieces of the period). Most of the concertos are not published, from what I understand. Doblinger published a lot of Sperger with Malaric as the copyist and editor. Those are still available. And there are the newer pubs of Henle and Hofmeister. Do some dilligent looking. ISG Publications (my co.) published the first sonata some time ago and we are looking at doing the second pretty soon. The amount of editing needed is outrageous. Malaric and others have made many mistakes, and frankly Sperger made numerous too and was not all that inspired as a composer. The second and fifth concertos (I think) are pretty nice. Don't forget Hoffmeister, Vanhall, and the two Dittersdorf concertos too. All of Sperger's stuff I think is now cataloged by Trumpf, and he is likely the best source of information. Contact him directly.
