I think I already sent you guys an email awhile ago, but I'm still wondering if there's any new info about the GL basses Dingwall had at NAMM. Prices, finishes, stuff like that.

May I ask who are the "you guys" your referring too?

From what is known about the Afterburner GL is found here
http://www.dingwallguitars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=832

from what little is known its
a Afterburner I sized (34-37" scale) instrument
Keep in mind this is a prototype that the production instruments will be based on so there will be slight differences. The hardware is standard instead of custom. Body lines were re-drawn to accommodate. Pickups are Bartolini style bar types. The tone is much warmer than the FD-3's which will be good for those who find the FD-3's too bright. We are considering making an FD-3 version housed in the same shell for a convenient upgrade.

The electronics are vol, vol, bass, treble. Active/passive push/pull on the neck volume. The pre-amp is an OEM EMG system based off the EMG BTS. Instead of a separate battery compartment we've fitted a flip-top battery box into the control cavity cover. Instead of the Neutrik jack we've gone with an Electro-socket with a Switchcraft style jack - very robust and reliable.

Neck shape is the same as the ABI.

Target price is $1100 retail, $880 street. This figure is subject to change due to forces beyond our control, but that's the target.

FCM3 is correct!

There is little known about when the GL bass will be ready to ship or what its final cost will be. Rest assured that whenever The Perfect Bass receives an update on this information from Dingwall we will post it here.

Thanks

The Perfect Bass. I was assuming that people who worked there watch this forum.

Cool, thanks.

Yes, I'll pretty much need one of these, since $800 is in my price range.. Problem is I'm rather stuck on black hardware, Hipshot open back tuners, and NOT amberburst finish. Picky bastard! There must be something Sheldon can do to bridge just a LITTLE more of that gap!
