Hello Justin,

I was wondering if any musicians you have worked with don't let you expand your ideas with bass or music in what you're working with. If this has happened to you, what do you do? I try and push it, but people get annoyed with me :rollno:. Can you expand your musical talents in with ummmmm let's see...Beck? Have you brought anything to Beck's albums that wouldn't have been there without you? Not in particular bass, but different genres of music.

Thanks for your time,

It just depends...if they tell me to chill out, I can't really get all in their grill about it, 'cuz they are paying me a nice wage. But if you have a RELATIONSHIP with someone (e.g. Beck), I can reason with someone like that and try to get my rocks off. Have I brought stuff to Beck's albums that wouldn't have been there without me? Sure. On Sea Change, Mutuations, Midnite Vultures and other recordings with Beck over the years, I've programmed, engineered, sang, played keys, played guitar, played bass, played drums, played percussion, mixed, and mastered. And just hung out. So a lot of stuff that comes through me and the other inner circle players can have an influence for sure. Beck enjoys working with CREATIVE dudes, he's not interested in bland musicianship and skill...he likes flavor, grit, innovation.
