Hey, how's it going? Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. You rock!
OK, on to my question..... Been a huge fan of Holly Palmer since day one, and just curious if you could provide any insight about your work with her on her Songs For Tuesday record. I love this album and would love to hear some 'behind the scenes' info.
Thanks and take care.

Wow, thanks for asking. Proud of that record. The short story:

Met with Holly, she was tired of sitting behind an SSL and ProTools with a different producer every few songs and banging out songs piece by piece over many months. I asked her where she was most comfortable, she said singing in front of small crowds! I said, cool: we're making a live record. So I put together a little band: myself on bass, Roger Manning on keys, Joey Waronker on drums, and Lyle Workman on guitar. We rehearsed for two days, did a live rehearsal with an audience, then booked three days in the studio and cut the record live, two sets of the record per day, in front of a 40-person audience seated in the tracking room live with headphones.

Recorded to tape, bounced to ProTools, did a few edits, mixed. Voila.

A very fun, spirited project.

Best,
JMJ
