At the begging of others in the 'Ray thread, here's a pic of some of Justin's bass collection (found on the www.justinmj.com site).

Of course we'd all like to see more pics if you got 'em, Justin. ;)

That look on his face totally says 'Yes, I am the **** for having so many badass basses.' From this picture its totally warranted.

Oh dear...yeah I hate that facial expression. Problem is, that pic is 5 years old. Gonna have to update with more "evidence".

Hi Mr. J,

As a lover of Japcrap myself, would love to see some of your cheaper stuff.
I'm buzzing off a 60's (Matsumoko) Commodore semi at the moment that I got for equivalent of about $80.

Come on mate, show us some hidden treasures (please)!

All the best
Nick

Much as I'd like to see what cheesy 60's basses Justin has, I wanna see your Commodore! Be sure to post a pic in Basses when you get it.

'Other things'?

You, like, got a gig going or somethin?

That other amp in the pic is some other Ampeg, not mine...it was in the room at Lon Cohen's (where my cartage gear is stored) and belongs to them.

I don't have much other Japanese weirdness, though I sure wish I did.

Yeah, I "got a gig or somethin'", but that's no excuse for me to keep buying anything I get excited about. :) I must stop and start paring things down, it's just getting too much for my house and my cartage storage.

My wife would never let me do it, but if you ever pare down that Club Bass, I would find a way to buy it and hide it from her ;)

Hey Nick, digging it! But I have a question about the bridge...is it installed over top of a second pickup hole or is that an optical illusion?

BTW, I thought that was real mean of Tom Bowlus to post the pics of that LeCompte he had built right under yours. I like Bud and think he does great work, but I'd rather have yours any day ;)

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for the compliment. That LeCompte is nice, but it's just too posh for me :hiding:.
Doesn't look like the sort of thing you could throw around & shove through a fuzz box!:D

There actually isn't a second pickup hole. I think what you're seeing is the bridge's black rubber damper strip (palm mute).

I've since taken unit off, but I may put it back on in the future - nice with pick playing.

Cheers
Nick

Uh oh, didn't know you read this forum, Tom! I was just trying to be funny. Don't mind me...I just forget that humor doesn't always translate to the written word as well as I would like ;)

Well, on the topic of humor not translating well, I should point out that my post was made in jest, too. ;) :p :D

I don't offend easily, and in fact, I found your post to be humorous and in good spirits.

And I, too, think that Nick's hollowbody rocks! :bassist:

LOL! One of my very best friends in the world and a former college roommate is from St. Albans, and he and I are always busting each other up over the unique philosophy which is English 'humour.' :p

My brother lives in St. Albans - a very nice place. I'm in Bristol, though we're both Mancunians, where humour can be even more 'acerbic'. Moved down to the richer South years ago during the first 'recession'. In the UK, I think the more North one goes, the greater the amount of piss-taking occurs - even psychs me out sometimes!

Guess you get the same demographic differences in the States. Noticed it myself, back in '97, whilst spending a year in Laurel Canyon.

Nice piece of furniture you got there mate! ;):p
