VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : T Birds By Epiphone
rogerbmiller 03-29-2008, 09:52 PM JMJ,
Since you have been known to rock the T Bird I was wondering what you think of the T Birds by Epiphone. Ever played one? Your thoughts?
I am thinking of picking one up cause I have a musiciansfriend credit and I have always been curious about T Birds, but not enough to drop 4 figures on a genuine neck through Gibby. mI tend to prefer bolt ons to NT basses, all things equal, so unless the epi is a hideously cheap instrument, I thought might have some fun.
Thanks.

You know what? That Epiphone one was my first t-bird, about eleven years ago. That's the one that got me hooked. I used it on tour with Beck for one or two songs of the show. They sound cool, in fact. I think it's worth it.

RavynWolf 03-30-2008, 12:43 PM I just bought the Goth T bird and i absolutely love it, the only problem i had was the factory nut, which was an easy replacement. The headstock is a tad heavy, but you would have to be a wet noodle to let it hit the floor

Sweetness! Thanks for that info. On your recommendation, I just placed the order. Goth T Bird factory refurb for $229.99. After my store credit the order came to $174+ change shipped! Can't beat that for net price.
I believe this makes bass number 76 for my collection. Talk about getting out of hand. It just never stops...:bassist:

Uhhh...well, I didn't exactly say the Goth T-Bird....I was referring to the traditional looking one. :rollno:
Just kidding (kind of)...if Goth is your thing, then wear it proud.

Goth is not so much my thing, though I do like the looks of the black bird. This just happens to be the one they were blowing out.
But this gives me a great excuse to start a Marilyn Manson cover band:D
40Hz_of_Love 03-31-2008, 10:01 AM Don't forget to put on some matching eye liner. ;>
jmjbassplayer 03-31-2008, 10:22 AM Sweet. Goth it up!

The T Bird arrived yesterday. Holy cow! Tons of fun to play and great tone. Was delightfully surprised by the quality. Thanks for the tip.

Ha! With a 4 year old and one year old, not much time to snap pics let alone grab clips. But I should have some vids soon....

Isn't the Goth (aside from looks) closer to a Gibson T-bird since it has a mahogany body and whereas the other Epi's have alder bodies ?! Or does the body wood not make much noticable difference ?
TaySte_2000 04-07-2008, 10:00 AM I've been using 2 Tokai Thunderbirds they are really great much better build quality than the epi's and they have a quick release bridge :D
Wouldn't mind the Nikki Sixx Blackbird though

I've heard Tokais are awesome, as are Orvilles.

TaySte_2000 04-08-2008, 05:03 AM I really want an Orville or Greco to leave in the studio.
The Greco's look a lot more like your T-birds with the big chrome pickups soooooooo nice
FireArm 04-08-2008, 06:46 AM Ive got a epi t-bird its great, I gig with it and its sound brilliant (some say they are muddy but once you know how to EQ it, it will sound great)
Pete Way from UFO has been a gibson thunderbird user for over 30 years - he now uses an Epiphone Thunderbird
