Hey Justin,
I'm a big fan of your playing, really tasteful. I was actually wondering what your opinion of bass players like Chris Chaney (one of me faves) and Juan Alderete (Mars Volta for those who don't know) are? I saw an interview on bassplayer TV that you are a fan of Chris, do you know what he is up to lately? He's a great player. As for Mars Volta, I know you played on televators and was wondering if you know Juan at all? He's a monster player!
Plus what do you think about lots of Fender players favoring Laklands these days? Chris and Juan both use Fenders and Laklands.

I know Juan really well, for years. He took over for me playing in a band on Atlantic called Pet. Sick, adventurous, genius player. Chris is great. His tone is always so on, sweet guy, can play anything.
I have two Laklands as well, they're just good. They replace the vintage pieces some guys don't want to get trashed on the road. I just bring the vintage ones, 'cuz they look cool to me.

Ahh thats so cool that you know Juan and Chris, both of them as well as you I admire i lot! I'll check out "Pet" as well for sure. I'm a fan of Big Sir as well, Juans side project where he plays his fretless, it's fantastic, i'm sure you've heard it?

Yes, Lisa from Big Sur was the singer in Pet, and I did a remix for them called "Sad Elephant" as well that ended up getting some airplay...the band liked my remix so much, that they started rendering the song like the remix live. Very flattering. Also, as a gift, the band all bought me a Master P doll and signed the packaging for me. It's in my studio. I squeeze it now and then, and it goes "uhhhhhhhhhh" and "nana nana".
Sweet.
