I've finally installed a set of Fat Stacks on a Lakland 55-01. I never found 55-01 to be inferior, but somewhat "modern" sound was not for me. Fat Stacks turned this bass into a Jazz/Rock machine. I am primarily a P-bass player, I like J-basses but was never fond of soloed bridge pickup -too thin and nasal to my taste. Fat Stack bridge pickup is really full sounding.

Note that I removed the active circuit completely, now it is setup vol-vol-tone with two switches for coil tapping. Speaking of which, I think I like single coil mode more than stacked mode, and I would like to hear opinions of those who used both Big Singles and Fat Stacks for a single-coil mode comparison.

And a message to Nordstrand: You really need to release a version 4-string Bart MK1 size, so I can put that on a 44-01 too :)

You've got to be carefull with calling jazz bridge pu's solo nasal and thin.

On my82 tokai jazzsound there is nothing nasal or thin about the bridge pickup. It's thight and round sounding with a lot of definition and bottom. The bridgepickup solo gives more bass than a lot of basses i've played with both pickups on. A good bass doesn't have a nasal sounding bridge pickup.

But then again, that's my taste.

Glad you like the nordies :bassist:

No problem, call the shop and place a custom order... although we don't have the MK1 shape, the P2 is VERY close.
