I have been on a little Isaacs kick as of late. Ben does some really nice work--a nice mixture of taste and creative note choices. It seems a shame he doesn't get more notice.

Ben played bass on Don Rigsby's version of a song I wrote called Muddy Water. He did a great job.

Ole Ben is known far and wide in the bluegrass circles and is a a good guy to boot. Years ago, we had an all Gospel group and played 2-3 shows for a local church and they had the Isaacs there as well.

Ben is a killer live sound engineer for shows he's involved in. He does a ton of production on recordings in the Nashville area and is still one of my favorite bassists.

His main instrument was a Kraftsman bass, basically a Kay built for Sears. He's played it for decades.

If you want to hear some killer playing of Ben's, get Earnie Thacker's CD (The Cold Chill of Lonesome) which came out in late 2001-early 2002. Most everybody knew that Barry Bales played on that CD and he did. But Bales only played one maybe 2 cuts and Ben played the rest. In my view, when Ben plays he seems to have merged the playing styles of Todd Phillips & Barry Bales. In my opinion, the best of both worlds.

He acquired that after lusting after my oldest one. I got it about 1999 or 2000, I can't remember now.

When I first showed it to him, he said, "Butthole!"

He's a super nice guy and seems the same every time I've seen him over the years.
