I am interested in picking up a 4- string fretless base. I have been told that one must be aware of various things, in order to get the effects of a fretless bass. Eg. type of pick-ups, type of amp. , settings on pick-ups and amp. etc.
I would appreciate any information.
Thank you.
Jim

True, there are alot of contributing factors to a fretless' sound, alot of which depends on what kind of sound you want. If you are after the 'modern' fretless mawha sound (for lack of better words) there are a few things that help. Round wound strings, a powerful pickup at the bridge position that is fairly close to the bridge (not to exclude a decent neck pup and/or a piezo), relatively low action and plenty of mids. There are plenty of varibles but that ott to be a good start.
