After a very lame week with one horribly bad gig and two not-so-great gigs, I would like to know the worst gig you've ever had, Justin, either as a single gig or an act you worked with. And please name names ;)

All the frat dudes booing us as soon as they saw our androgynous lead singer taunting them, who then proceeded to ask how many people in the audience were latently gay in the audience, then how many aren't sure and stuff like that. Then the threats started flying...then the objects. Alex kept messing with them, he's never afraid of a confrontation or a fight. We bailed after 25 minutes. It was awesome. The worry was then that our tour bus was parked right behind the outdoor venue, so they all saw us going in and out of there....and we couldn't leave right away because our bus driver had just done a long-haul overnighter to get us there, so we had to let him sleep longer before we could actually start driving again. We just layed low, then crept out of there in the cover of darkness. I learned later that our guitarist and keyboardist actually went out to some parties with some of the frat girls before we split, so I guess it wasn't that bad. :-) I have an affinity with the learning experience of bad gigs, and a perverse love for actual adversarial audiences. Call me crazy. JMJ JimmyM 04-20-2008, 11:13 AM Ima Robot opening for Hoobastank and Lost Prophets Say no more, my friend. I could already see where that was going once you said Hoobastank. Killer story to tell your grandkids one day, but sounds like it was very uncomfortable at the time. attackbass 04-26-2008, 02:17 PM That's story was pretty awesome fair play! I played a punk festival show once, where most of the crowd were' old skool' punk and oi fans. Beer cans and whatever else started flying as soon as we busted out a funk punk tune! Got to say I kinda enjoy playing to a cold or angry audience... makes me put a lot more into what Im doing on stage and try to prove something! jmjbassplayer 04-26-2008, 06:37 PM Nice!! I'm down with that, attackbass. |
