Hi Mr. Neher, I'm working out of the George Vance Progressive Repertoire book Vol. 3. In the second piece Tre Giorni there are certain groups of notes which have two curved lines. Which of the two lines is the indication for the notes to be played with one bow direction. What does the other curved line indicate as long as we're at it. Thanks, Jon Pintoff

It may also be a phrase marking.

Don't have the book in front of me, but I believe in this case the larger marking is the bowing, and the smaller ones inside it are ties....
