Im sure this has been posted before but I've done a quick search and couldnt find anything :hiding:

Anyway, in about a month I have to perform a solo piece for one of my final college assignments.

Im struggling to find something to play.

The assignment states you have a completely free choice of song but it has to be between 3min and 6mins, Backing tracks are allowed as well as effects etc.
(The notation for the chosen song must be handed in in two weeks)

I dont want to go onstage and perform a song consisting of rootnotes, I'd like something thats going to impress my peers and tutors.

I play fingerstyle (but can also use a pick), I cant really slap or pop (mainly because those techniques dont interest me) but I can tap as well as play harmonics.

I was thinking about possibly playing a simple Jazz song that gives me room to improvise, maybe some walking bass lines?

I used to be able to play a few Jaco/Weather report numbers, but in all honesty I've let my playing slip abit since then, so I'd probably have to re-learn those songs if I where to use them.

Anyone got any suggestions?
:help:

I am a huge fan of the Bach Cello Suites. Some of the sections are harder than others. I think if you chose a slower and a faster section, that would be a nice performance in the 3-6 minute range. Good luck!

Great Idea, get a Bach book, and pull out any Sonata learn the Largo part and the Allegro part, and you're good to go, by the way, that classical music pieces are the best ways give your fingers a nice workout!
