Due to placing another custom bass order, the time to clean out my ‘stable’ has come.
This is a Warwick FAN Jazzman (5 string) – my 1st ever professional bass. I bought it new but only used it for around a year before purchasing my 6 string thumb, upon which it was ‘retired’.
It’s in perfect condition – no dings, scratches etc. I applied the Warwick beeswax ever week for the first 12 months and it has always received (as with all my basses) its annual setup from my luthier, Darren Youngberg. I take great care of all my instruments - they are always wiped down after use & live in their 'coffins' when not in use. Darren has additionally installed Dunlop straplocks on this bass.
This is the bass that gets an overall rating of 9.4 on Harmony Central (including 9.6 for sound) (http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Electric+Bass/product/Warwick/FNA+Jazzman/10/1). It has the fantastic dark Warwick tone with snappy highs and is a dream to play. A wide range of output is available due to the on-board EQ, coil-tapping switch, blend knob and the tonal characteristics of the MEC J & stingray pickups themselves.
It is perfectly balanced and comes fitted with a fresh set of DR lo riders from its annual setup.
Specs include:
• Bolt-on neck design
• US swamp ash body with AA-flamed maple top
• Ovangkol neck
• Wenge fingerboard
• Scale length: 34" (long scale)
• 24 frets
• Passive MEC JM/MM pickups with extra large pole pieces
• Active MEC 3-band electronics
• Natural finish
• Warwick tuners
• 2-piece Warwick bridge
• Gold hardware
• Just-A-Nut II
• Weight: 9 lbs. (5-string)
Also included with the bass (instead of the default Warwick gig bag) is a Warwick aluminium flight case. While this has seen heavy action with several of my other basses, it is physically fine and extremely sturdy with reinforced corners, heavy-duty butterfly clasps and a comfortable tube/spring handle.
You could literally throw your bass down a flight of stairs and this case would ensure no harm came to the instrument (the same couldn’t be said for any punter it strikes on the way down).
All pictured case candy - truss rod tool, beeswax & allen key set are included.
This is a serious instrument for a serious muso. I’m asking $2500 for the lot. Due to the weight and hassle I’m not keen on shipping it – I live in Brisbane (if I did ship, buyer to pay freight/insurance). I have a fantastic 2000 Watt bi-amped rig with which you’re more than welcome to try the bass through (or bring your own).
