I'm competely stagger now about out sound system in the church venue.

We usually play with our amps in our own church which have enough headroom to cover the place. Now we in a different place just for this sunday, it is much much more bigger and i think our amp will now handle the place and it will be a pain to carry our amp over. We usually keep our amp in our own church so we don't have to move them.

Now here is the problem, we think their is a PA system in the venue but i think our sound sucks when running via the PA.

I got a MXR M80 but the sound still sucks. We tested this out in our own church PA. My M80 did improve the sound but it still sucks badly. Maybe is our church PA sucks. i dunno what to do now.

+1, if you use the amp you are comfortable with, you can concentrate more on your playing because you don't have to worry about your sound.

The overall sound is going be up to the soundman. If your DI didn't sound good through the PA, then either the PA is poor or not well-understood by the people who run it. All you can do is provide good tone, the person in charge of sound is responsible for making everyone sound good through the PA.

Get all the info you can beforehand on the venue's PA and who's going to run sound. Also, pick up as much info on running sound as possible on talkbass so that you can help the soundguy as much as possible.

Otherwise, go to a shop and rent a good PA system, (which you will be unfamiliar with), or use what's there, (which you are unfamiliar with), without your own gear, (which will sound different and you will be unfamiliar with).............

Playing different size venues is part of the whole "gigging" experience. You need to use the gear you sound good with, or the audience doesn't get the sound they expect from you.
