So my band has this thing going on right now where in between songs we turn off the lights, play a short sound clip and tune and do whatever else has to be done quickly. Helps bridge our set together, we strive for a super tight well linked, put together set.

We've been using an ipod for the clips but that is just plain annoying, and very inconvenient. We would like to use a sampler but those things don't come too cheap. Is there any computer software that has a sampler like interface? Or does anybody know of a programmable sampler or keyboard or anything like that? Were just looking for press a button, play the clip, stop, repeat.

Thanks.

can't see a sampler being any more convenient than an ipod, really: sure, you could get a sampler or sampling keyboard but if all you're going to do is fire off a single sample then what's the problem with the ipod? portable, not much to go wrong, has standard headphone out...?

My buddy uses a Boss or Roland sampler of some sort and loads it with his Ipod. Very easy to trigger. I'll have to check with him.
