Hi all! I am was going to buy a new fender jazz bass ( http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0264500552 ) but then i saw that it had Seymour Duncan pick-ups and Iv heard that the Noiseless pick-ups are better. What are your opinions on this bass and its pick-ups?

I have that bass. Bought it about a year ago as a back up bass. It spends just as much time in my hands as any other bass I have. I love it just the way it is and wouldn't change a thing. I have used this bass on at least 70-80 gigs this last year and have had alot of compliments of the tone. Including someone from David Allan Coe's sound crew when we opened for him a couple of months back. I did play at a gig a few months back and was almost next to a beer sign that would make some noise through the bass. Since then I took the pickups and electronics out and painted the cavities with EMI paint. 3 coats letting each coat completely dry before adding the next. I have played at that same bar and even though the noise wasn't completely gone, it was reduced significantly. I would say by about 75% which is more than I hoped for so I am happy. If you go to my myspace page, I recorded "Groove in D" with that bass if ya want to give a listen.

Well, Noiseless or SCN pickups won't have the 60 (or 50) Hz hum from mains. But that's nothing that cannot be resolved through improved shielding (as mentioned above) and a hum reducer in your signal chain. What's more important is the sound, since they don't sound alike. Basslines are a little hotter and more aggressive than Noiseless, which gravitate towards a vintage sound.

I think ill look for noiseless pick-ups ( http://www.thomann.de/fi/fender_mex_deluxe_jazz_vw.htm seems good). I really hate making decisions like these hehe

I absolutely agree. I just now realized I have the noiseless p-u's in my MIM Jazz 5 string. (Forgive me, it's early!!!) Anyways, the SD's are more aggressive (What I like to refer to as a Modern kind of sound) and the Noiseless lean more torwards vintage sounding. Both are full and thick sounding though. If you go back to my myspace page, I believe the first video is my MIM Jazz 5 string.....
