SOLD
Typical wear for an instrument of this age. The neck is a '79 and the body is an '80. The neck pickup cover has a crack that's been glued back together and is holding very well. It comes with replacement covers that don't have the holes in them.To the best of my knowledge all the electronics are original except the preamp, which is a vintage style factory replacement. The bright switch doesn't work because they don't make a replacement pre that works with it. The bright switch just made the bass sound thin anyway and most people don't use it.
The frets were leveled and re-crowned two weeks ago. 10.4 Lbs on my digital scale.
Comes a gig bag.
I have more pics for those interested email or pm me.
$1400 shipped to lower 48 anywhere else contact me for shipping quotes.

This is a good one guys. It's one of the nicest early Sabres I've played.

Thanks B

I forgot to mention I'd take trades +or- cash.
A modern stingray, inca silver jazz bass, Genz Benz 6.0, Epifani 502, and effects pedals work too.

If anyone out there is looking for a slap bass- this kills em all. Gives you the percussive top end of the early Stingay with some massive subs coming off the neck PUP.

In fact Anyone looking for a Stingray should nab this.
Turn off the neck PUP and voila... Bernard Edwards/Louis Johnson.
Turn it back on again to watch your audience lose bowel control.

Also- I've seen these sell for up around $1900- so good deal here folks!

And yes- the "bright" switch is totally useless.

I had a brown one that was insane, I wish I hadn't sold it. It was the rock tone machine from hell! Good luck!

I'm kind of embarrassed to say this because I say it so often, but I had a Sabre for a while, and it was a killer bass. Whoever gets this has a great bass and a cool piece of history too.:)

Yes, the neck is an era correct replacement. I figured this, the wear and the factory replaced pre subtracted from the value (of about $1700) down to my asking price.

Make offers if you like you never now what I'll do.

Everybody's props for a nice bass are greatly appreciated. Thanks
I will own another one of these some day I just need some money right now or I'd keep it.

As you said, this is extremely common. I've had all-original Fender, Musicman, and G&L basses that had over 9 months between neck and body dates. Sometimes one piece will sit around for awhile, who knows why.

I too have a Sabre, with sept 79 body/apr 80 neck, all factory original. Nothing unusual about that. You'll see several like that listed on the musicman.org site.
