Greetings Luthiers,

We are having a debate in the setup forum that would quite easily be answered by an experienced Luthier. Please click on the link below and help us uneducated idiots (in terms of Bass building and set up). Thanks!

IIRC, buzzing on the low frets 1-5 is caused by insufficient concavity (not enough upbow).

Buzzing on the higher frets is caused by excess convexity (too much backbow). On instruments that have only a single-action trussrod, this might not be correctable without a luthier's help.

In both instances, you'll have to loosen the trussrod, which is usually achieved by turning it counterclockwise. (Righty tighty, lefty loosey).
