Long story short I tried my hand at a 62 RI P-Bass and suddenly found the sound I was looking for. I almost thought of putting up my Jag in trade but considering I wouldn't get much in trade in I decided to go another route and see if I could get more of a P-Bass sound out of my Jag. So I'm thinking of changing pickups to either Seymour Duncan Basslines or Dimarzios. Also I am hoping to get a more even sound volume-wise across all strings.

Music styles range from New Wave to Punk to Ska to Reggae.

Any suggestions?

Switch to both pups, series mode and bump up your active bass control by about 1/4 to 1/3 while leaving the active treble all the way off. Adjust passive tone to taste. I nail a Pbass tone this way

That was really helpful. Cool.

That was really helpful. Cool.

My pleasure. I'm pretty impressed with the range of tones I can get out of the Jag. The actives bring out the best in those pups, IMHO. Versatility Rivals my G&L L2000.

Thanks for the tip, I will give it a try.

Also I was wondering is the volume between strings normally a little uneven? for example my A string is much quieter than my E. I was wondering if a pickup change my help.
