VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : Paul- I have an idea for merchandise...
Nick Gann 04-15-2002, 09:29 PM My friend who plays bass told me this. It is kinda long, but good. I think I saw something similar to it on someone's sig, but I'm not sure...
"The drummer can drop his sticks, The guitarist can break his picks, But the bassist can play forever"
(make some changes if you think they will work better)
That on the front of a shirt, and a HUGE bass clef on the back would be sweet. I would buy that in a second. Throw a "Talkbass.com" under the clef, and that would be great IMO.
BTW- somewhere I saw a place to give merchandise suggestions. Where was that?
Hope you like my idea. If you do use it, can I get a complimentary long-sleeve t-shirt with that on it?:D j/k. (maybe not kidding.... )
(I have little money...I spent it all on my new bass)
If not, I will save my pennies to get it anyway.
Nick
ZuluFunk 04-16-2002, 05:47 AM That would be a sweet Tee!!! I'd get one in a heartbeat!
thrash_jazz 04-16-2002, 09:29 AM Another good one I saw was "Kiss my Bass!"
Good suggestions! Anyone else with merchandise logo ideas let me know - remember you get a free shirt if your idea is used :)

That would be really cool. It would be funny to make the text black and big, except for the "B" in bass. Make it small and lighter, like grey or something so it looks like "Kiss my..." ;) (but it doesn't say anything bad)
Nick:D
jvasquez18 04-17-2002, 01:55 PM How about having 3 definitions of "bass". the fish, the sound, and the instrument. the definition would be duplicated as in a dictionary (how to pronounce it, adjective, etc) and it would be written (printed) in front of a *visibly faded* bass clef and "talkbass.com" on the back, like the one already made but a little higher since it's on the back. i got this idea from the "new york" crowd wearing the "playerz" shirts with the definition and such.
*visibly faded*- a name for a band :D

KISS MY bASS, people are gonna read it as "kiss my flat-@#%":D :D
Nick Gann 04-17-2002, 06:09 PM Gotta love jokes that only a musician would get...
A non-musician would say...
*stupid voice on*
Uhh... Why is that b all little and stuff? And why would I kiss your fish? I think it was supposed to say a$$, not bass... What kinda idiot made that shirt?
*stupid voice off*
-or he'd say this-
*stupid voice on*
huh?.. I don't get it...
*stupid voice off*
:D :D
Non-musicians. Gotta love them. They make me laugh at their ignorance. They don't understand all the good jokes.

or how about doing this but on the back of the already made talkbass.com t-shirt?

Hey, we could maybe have a picture of rickbass's avatar on it! :p
MadaboutJermNIB 04-18-2002, 08:57 PM I think that idea about the three different defintions of "bass" is super sweet, i'm picturing white writting on a black shirt. ;) all in all it's dope!
How about a picture of a bass beating up a guitar?

Let's take that a bit further and have a cartoon Vic Wooten beating up a cartoon Yngwie Malmsteen!
Or how about a picture of a guy's face, with a bass across his upper lip, and a slogan beneath it saying "GOT BASS"?
Bigfeet 04-20-2002, 01:45 AM I think coming up with a catchier logo would be better, there's just something about the one you have now that doesn't quite sit well with me. Though I would gladly show my support of talkbass, I doubt it would catch the eye of many people.
Here's an idea (mind you I made it in 30 seconds)

...sorry.
Nick Gann 04-23-2002, 06:33 PM Paul-
Any word on these new ideas? Some of them are great.
Yes, a lot of great ideas - thank you all. Hopefully I'll have some time soon to work out some new graphics. Lately I've been too swamped with more critical projects :(
big daddy cool 04-28-2002, 08:57 AM I'd quite like to own a shirt with a cartoon picture of jaco stamping on a cartoon picture of fieldys head. I suppose underneath all that you could throw in a talkbass.com and again the cleff on the back might be nice.
mikemulcahy 04-30-2002, 02:25 PM One thought that I had was a pic of a bass player holding up a stage with the rest of the band on it and the words NUFF SAID under it. Just a thought.

i've never heard of a guitarist breaking a pick. maybe it should be the other way around.
Nick Gann 04-30-2002, 07:54 PM My guitarist uses Fender light picks, which he breaks daily. They snap like... like... like... something that snaps fairly regularly. couldn't think of anything. My drummer breaks sticks in marching band all the time, but not yet on drumset. He went through 13 sticks last season. Like I said origionally, make some changes if you think they will work better:D
MadaboutJermNIB 05-01-2002, 11:55 PM seriously, the bassist can stop if his friggin' amp gets messed up:)
Nick Gann 07-18-2002, 08:30 PM yes the bassist can stop if his amp is all messed up. :D

...well that depends weither you play electric or double bass and how big the venue is, doesn't it?
Bigfeet 07-20-2002, 01:11 PM Originally posted by AcousticBass
How about, "Bassist do it deeper" in big letters across the front, and "Talkbass.com" on the back with a logo or something?
Actually that's Ron Jeromy's catch phrase... I would by it, but I'm not sure if it's ok to use it.
MarkMcCombs 07-30-2002, 04:18 PM I rather like simple design. Just a big bass clef in white on a black tee, perhaps with talkbass.com in rather small letters underneath it.
I love TB, but don't relish the thought of having to explain to non-bassists what talkbass.com is, and why it's cool. ("yeah, um, all my friends are cybe-friends", and crap like that).
Maybe having the words "Thump" or something on the back of the shirt.

Hey...I like that!
I_am_Rage 08-02-2002, 01:43 AM My only suggestion on merchandise is make the shirts in black too please.
thrash_jazz 08-06-2002, 09:10 AM I once saw a Physics shirt that had the Navier-Stokes equation on it and it read something like this:
What Part of Don't You Understand?
In the same vein, I would gladly buy a TB shirt that had something like this on it:
[B]What Part of Gxdimb7b9#11 Don't You Understand?
Or something like that. BTW, to the best of my knowledge this chord exists only in the minds of the demented and reader's nightmares.
Bob Clayton 08-18-2002, 10:27 PM just imagine all we could say undeneath a picture of Mark Hoppus...and all the Blink 182 fans that don't play bass "Hey, why are you putting him down, I bet he's better than you."
:D

Thats cool! I'd buy that!
Matt Till 10-13-2002, 10:59 PM I personally think a Talkbass hoodie would be great. Black with a mmmmmm... orange bass clef and www.talkbass.com underneath it. Ooooh or a green bass clef.
Hategear 10-13-2002, 11:52 PM "Save a tree, kill a guitarist!"
Come on, people -- you know it's funny!

Hahahahaha!!! If a guitarist practices and no body is there to hear it, does he actually make a sound? :D

I still wanna see this one...
C'mon now! If we all pressure paul, he will snap and order some!

When did you become a mod, Bigfeet? Where the hell have I been all my life?

I've been one, for a while, for the effects forum... ever since jake left and told paul that he wanted me to replace him. :D
moley 10-16-2002, 08:04 AM You could have a T-shirt with just
Jaco who?
on it, with www.talkbass.com underneath or whatever. That would amuse me. Not sure why. Also, you could do hoodies as well as T-shirts (do you guys call 'em hoodies in the states or is that just a British thing? Y'know, hooded sweatshirts).
EDIT: By the way, doing a TB compilation CD is a great idea, that's gotta happen
