I had my bow rehaired about a year ago, and the luthier said he suspected that it was a German stick with a French frog.

The bow seems to work for me alright, but I notice that the camber of the stick is pretty shallow when I get the hair to the proper tightness. I always assumed that this was due to age or mistreatment.

Do German sticks in general have a shallower camber?

I dont think theres much difference but i could be wrong. Generally bows with more camber produce a better sound. If your stick is flimsy compared to most bows and you dont get good sound maybe you should get another bow. :D

German sticks generally have more camber (bigger bend in the stick), making it difficult to put a French frog on. There would be little or no room between the hair and the stick.
