Hi guys
This is my first post, I am new to the world of Roscoe. I found this in a pawn shop and I am debating on getting it, it plays and sounds better than any bass I have ever payed, my brother has a real nice alembic essence and I like the roscoe better. I was wondering if you guys can tell me about when it was made and if $1200 is a decent deal, I looked on ebay but couldn't find anything with the monkey grip and this style neck to compare it too.

You'll have to talk to Keith or Gard about the serial number. That bass is not new.
I am sure it's a great axe but $1200.00 is way steep IMO. I'd offer the guy $600.00 and go from there.
I doubt if he gave much over a couple hundred bucks for it. Then he probably went on ebay and did a price comparison and came up with that sticker price.
Give it a shot.

It's definitely one of "ours", but the serial number is not ours. I can tell you that with absolute certainty, as a) our highest serial number right now is in the 5900's, we have not produced anything in the 6000's yet, and b) we do not use a sticker like that, our serial numbers are handwritten on the headstock by Keith himself.
We can't comment on the used value of that bass, sorry, we do not have a clue what it is worth.

Is there anything in the neck pocket that may tell me?

There could be three places (or none, as it wasn't S.O.P. until much more recently than the build date of that instrument) with an actual serial number:
neck pocket
under the neck pickup
in the control cavity
However, there are no guarantees of it being there, and even if you have an accurate serial number we do not have any records from the period that bass was completed. :hmm:
Bottom line - if you want to see the actual serial number for your own personal information great; if you wanted it to confirm any information about the bass from us, it won't be any real help.
