What kind of side markers does it have ? Single white dots at frets 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 15, 17, and 19, with double dots at 12. I don't get any more lost on this than I did on a lined fretless I had a few years ago. :D

thanks It has a piezo bridge pickup. Rather than explain what that does (because I can't), search Google for all kinds of information. It provides a lot of treble, very polite but usable midrange, and GOBS of bass. I have to cut the bass knob about 9dB on my amp to keep it from overpowering the rest of my tone. EDIT: this boominess was cured when I put La Bella tapewounds on it. Sweet. pmed! I would, but USPS size restrictions limit our possible deal, and FedEx makes it ridiculously priced. Sorry!

I understand. :hmm: I'm just glad you didn't say "continental United States." Guys do that, not realizing, I guess that Alaska is part of the North American continent. :eek:

Man....that IS my old axe...purchased from Gelb and regrettably sold. The cat in Marin absolutely butchered the thumbrest...and it appears he changed the strings too. Argh.

Best of luck with the sale. If I had the Samolians available I would unhesitatingly buy this one back for one of those great feel-good-reunion type deals. :D

Ok...sorry in advance for the tangent...but a quick story that speaks to the versatility of this bass, and hopefully aids in the sale.

I used this pretty much exclusively (as you'd guess) on jazz dates. It approximated an upright sound so well - and this is honest w/ no exaggeration - that I actually had an upright player come up to me on a casual and express his amazement at seeing an electric player. Anyway, this type of stuff is certainly right in the wheelhouse of the bass - the tone shape with it's nice bloom and lazy decay (particularly with those LaBellas) just makes you fantasize about being Ron Carter. :D However, the closer your right hand gets to the bridge, the funkier things become. To wit:

On one of those crazy weeks where I had diverse gigs and other things happening, I made one of those "Oh no I didn't!!!!" mistakes. Jazz hit one evening, late R&B gig the next, and a smooth jazz recording session the following morning. For that last one, I grabbed the wrong gig bag and sleepily left the house for the date up in San Francisco. Didn't even think about it until I start setting up in the studio...expecting to see the Sadowsky and instead finding the Rob Allen. DOH!

I decided to bluff my way out of it (as opposed to just admitting I was an idiot) and, long story long, got away with it. The engineer, producer, and the guitar player on the date even commented on the axe..."ooh, what's that...that should sound interesting..." I just plugged into the DI, planted my right hand as close to the bridge as possible, prayed my intonation would pass muster, and chased after it. The results? Amazing. As much as I'd love to say it was my playing...it was the bass. :lol

Anyway - this bass is as sonically remarkable as it is wonderful to play and easy on the eyes. The player who ends up buying this bass will be very, very happy.
