funk is not just a bunch of funky scales... its how something is played....Rhythm...

there aren't any specific "funk scales" but pentatonic work well...My friend likes to call funk, music for the body, in that it is all about the rhythmn and its very pleasing for your phsyical self to hear,also funk is generally more simplistic musically, the theory involved is usually pretty basic, whereas some music(like alternative experimental classical bluegrass or something) is more of music for the mind, as it incorporates more theory and musical know-how.

E# Lydian Augmented is particulary funky.

Funk is about feeling and groove, gettin tight with the drummer, usually a vamp in the key tone of the tune
