Hello TBer's,
I have been having trouble with one sound company, and only with this sound companies gear.

I'm getting shocked whenever I sing into the mic. I am playing my bass whenever this does happen. Does anybody here know whats the cause of this?

I am playing on my Pavel Jazz Pro deluxe 5, and I have an MXR direct/pre amp stomp box, and a tuner connected to the MXR. When I was using my Spector awhile back with the same company running sound for us, I got shocked as well. When I used the MTD, at certain events I would get shocked.

Tonight, I was singing so far from the mic, that I could barely keep attention, fearing that annoying zap. And I'm the lead vocalist.

The guitarists thinks there is something wrong with my guitar. I BEG to differ.

Any thoughts guys n gals?

I thank you in advance.

Hey James! :) It must be the earthing. Be sure that your amp has a correct ground wire.

It's probably a grounding issue.

Either the mixer/amp the mike is connected to is not properly grounded or the amp your bass is connected to is not grounded properly.

Most likely this is not a problem with your bass/basses.

If you're playing at one particular location when this happens, there may be a grounding problem with the building's wiring.

It could also be an issue with a "common ground" being shared by multiple outlets.

And of course the obvious, never use a ground plug eliminator (turns 3 prongs into 2) for anything.

Just a few ideas to think about...

I agree with the grounding theory. In the late 60's and early 70's when everything was two prong plugs it wouldn't be too uncommon to run into this problem.

Plookie, invest in a windscreen/mic cover man! you'll hurt yourself with all that juice blowing through your teeth. Seriously. One of the best pieces of gear a singing bass man can pack. Keep playing that Pavel!
