Anyone have one favorite book about bass instruction/music/history?

In other wods, one complete book that does it all - looks at the bass guitar as an instrument, looks at some players, and looks at basic method/instruction?

Teach Yourself Rock Bass by David Gross (1980)

Not so easy to get hold of, but its on ebay
