Hello,

(first post ever!! woo hoo! :))

So my first question is about octaves. How would I go about practicing these? Is the correct form for octaves to use your index and middle finger (of the plucking hand) separately for both strings?

Example: Playing an octave (C) on the A string - third fret, and the C on the G string - fifth fret.

Would I keep my middle finger on the G string and my index finger on the A string and just pluck? I've tried it and it seems a little awkward...

Thanks for help in advance!

On the Doublebass, I use my thumb on the lower string and second finger on the upper string or first and second fingers together on the upper string. This is done squeezing them towards each other like when you are pinching. I do this for tenths on the E (root) and G (tenth) as well. On the electric, try thumb and 2 or thumb and first finger. Both would be similar hand shapes to when you might be doing some funky slapping on the electric.
