I picked up a Squire 70's Vintage Modified Jazz. Beautiful bass, good sound, but the way it's wired isn't my favorite set up. The two volume knobs don't really "blend" for me, and I usually have everything wide open anyways, so switching is only a matter of turning one down totally.

So, my question is thus: Where can i find schematics to wire it with a Volume, Pickup selector switch, and a Series/Parallel switch? I have a general idea about the Volume and pickup selector, but i'm lost on the series/parallel switch.

They are single coils and everything is stock.

I would recommend a 5-Way Rotary J Harness from HAS Sound:
http://has-sound.com/harnesses.htm#Bass%20Harnesses

It gives you the option of bridge only, neck only, series, parallel, and out-of phase. You can also buy just the 5-way selector and add it to your existing harness, if you're handy with the soldering gun. Good luck!

So this thing can be wired up to a standard J-bass control plate?

I believe it is an exact replacement for a Fender Jazz; Stan at HAS Sound can tell you for sure. He made a replacement harness for my Epiphone EB-0 and I love it!

That's sick. I was wondering about doing something with the tone controls on one of my Jazzes but I wanted to keep it passive as well.

Any chance of schematics with the rotary switch? Searching 'Jazz Bass wiring" gets around several hundred thousand results...maybe more.

Plus, i'll admit, i know very little about the theory behind wiring volume pots and such...:crying::hiding:

If you want to just add a series/parallel switch, try this:

http://www.areyoulocal.com/Bass_series_mod.asp

However, the talkbass link at that site doesn't work.
