I need to work on my sight reading. Back when I was in school band and played the trumpet, I had tons of opportunities to do this. This was mainly due to the fact that most of the time I was being graded on it.

However, since I don't play bass in any great environment like that, I find it much more difficult to A)Find appropriate sheet music, and B)Find appropriate recordings of said sheet music to check my playing

Any ideas?

There are dedicated books for sight reading on bass guitar-I'm working on one now. Comes with CD and starts from the very beginning. Search Amazon.

Check out Ron Velosky's "Sight Reading for Bass" - I have several sight reading books and his is the best/most useful, IMHO/YMMV.

You can find it at BassBooks.com
