The bass that I'm selling was made in Romania between 1999 and 2001. It's a fully carved flatback with a 3/4 string length (41"), a modified 7/8 size body, and an Eb neck.

The bass is strung with Flexocore strings and its somewhat larger body size contributes to very good arco tone and volume, and very decent pizz. capacity.

I purchased this bass from Mark Sonksen, www.sonksenstrings.com in Chicago in 2004 and Mark has continued to maintain the bass for me. These pics are from his bass sale archive:

http://www.sonksenstrings.com/instruments/0467.html

I'm asking $4,500 for the bass. The price includes an Upton Bass Bag (with bottom rollers) which is very well made and in excellent condition.

The bass can be viewed and played in Chicago.

Please PM me for more details. In my humble, but obviously biased, opinion, this bass provides excellent value for a senior high school, college, or amateur player looking for a great bass at a reasonable price.

Just noticed that I forgot to mention that, while local pick-up is preferred, I can arrange for shipping at buyer's expense.

Reasonable offers will be considered on this bass. Also, I will consider time payments if you have, and can prove, good credit and references.

I'm thinking of putting on new strings and am trying to decide between Flexocores, Evah Pirazzi's, or Bel Cantos.

Since I have not made up my mind just yet, I will pay to have the strings of the buyer's choice installed - any string set up to $200 (sorry, no DD guts). Limited time offer and subject to me changing my mind.

I will entertain all reasonable offers.

Pick-up is preferred. If you want to ship the bass, you will have to make all the arrangements and bear the costs, as my luthier has informed me that he will not ship basses and I do not have the tools, skill, and materials to do it myself. Sorry.

You should really play the bass before you buy it anyway.

Just received a new set of Evah Pirazzi's from Quinn Violins (excellent string prices) which will be put on in the next few days.

BUMP

I'm lowering the price to $4,000 for the bass and Upton bag. The bass now has new EP strings and I will include the Flexocore strings that were removed and still have life in them.

The bass is still available.

I will consider all reasonable offers.

I am also willing to accept a reasonable down payment and monthly payments on the balance pursuant to a written purchase agreement. This will require a credit check and/or personal references from the purchaser. Please PM if you would be interested.

Time for a bump.

Please note: the Barrister will be off-line from 9/02 through 9/16. Your passionate pleas to purchase at twice my asking price will not yield a response during that time.
