Is there really a Bass specific instrument cord, that really does bring out the bottom end tones or are some of these companies just trying to get to the botom of my wallet? Don't really mind spending a bit more for some quality gear and I admit I'm a bit new, but not above asking a few questions first.:bassist:

No, there isn't one that brings out the bottom end. There are cords that have better quality connectors that last longer. Connector/cord brand and type are up to personal preference.

yeah the monster bass cables evidently are just regular cables with a higher capacitance, so it attenuates your high end rather than 'bringing up the bass.' it's a big controversy around here. I use one sometimes...it does make a slight change in the sound. for better or worse? depends what you're going for. I think I prefer my planet waves cable

I like Planet Waves cables. I have four of them. I've used one of them (90 degree switched end) almost exclusively for three years with no major issues. I did notice a difference in clarity when I plugged in with a regular (unswitched) 10ft PW cable, though. I don't know what would cause the difference in sound, beside the switch.

High-quality plugs and high-quality cable can be had for a moderate price. If you spend more than $20 on an instrument cable you are paying too much. IMHO
