Hi all,

I have been playing for about 3 years now and I am not as good as I think I should be, I know how to do most of the techniques for a bass, fingerstyle, 3 finger gallop, picking, slapping and popping, tapping,etc...

Anyway I feel like I have hit a wall and I do not know what I should play now. I typically play classic rock tunes i.e. Led Zeppelin and Cream or stuff like Primus

Any ideas what things I should learn? Could be songs or it could be something else I can experiment with... any help would be awesome

Learn to play songs you don't typically play.
If you're not in a band, maybe join one and apply what you know.
How about attending an open mic night at a blues club?
Study music theory (composition/harmony).
Learn some classical tunes on your bass.
Learn to sing and play bass at the same time.
Create a your own song book with charts and add a song a week (or whatever).
Write/record your own songs.
mmm...prolly a bunch of other stuff.....study all the stickies on TB

Hey i have been playing for 3 years and have also hit the same wall. i have decided to move off my rocky side and begin moving in to jazz / blues tunes they have been keeping me very occupied. im learning that speed is no longer my priority and jazz has opened a new world of technique and understanding of the music. Look into artists such as Victor Wooten's "Show of Hands" Album and you will see were im coming from.
